Job summary
Stonehouse Process Safety has a great opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to join our dynamic team of process safety consultants in one of North America’s most respected process safety companies. This position will develop into a Process Safety Consultant role involving client-facing projects requiring a mix of technical and soft, interpersonal skills. Working under the close supervision of our Senior Process Safety Specialists, you will be involved in a range of projects related to process safety in a wide range of industrial sectors.
Your developing role
Initially supporting seniors in their work, over time you will gain autonomy to:
- Conduct technical process hazard analyses (PHA) and dust hazard analyses (DHA), to identify potential hazards and risks, identify areas for improvement, and develop practical recommendations for corrective actions.
- Develop and implement process safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations.
- Utilize techniques such as Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), What-If, and other methodologies, to identify potential hazards and risks associated with industrial manufacturing processes.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing change where necessary, as well as subsequent auditing of process safety programs.
- Conduct training programs to educate employees and management on process safety and risk management.

To be successful in this role, we would expect you to have a skill set drawn from the following:
- Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering,
- An ability and interest in thinking analytically and solving problems,
- Excellent communications skills (written, oral and listening),
- Excellent self-starter with a natural ability to work under own initiative,
- Interest in travel and for some site-based activity (typically a few days on-site).
