Job summary
Stonehouse Process Safety Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Consulting to lead our dynamic team of Process Safety Specialists in one of North America’s most respected process safety companies. As Director of Consulting, you will work closely with clients to understand their specific process safety needs and develop customized solutions that align with their objectives. You will lead our team of consultants providing expertise in various areas of process safety and hazard studies. You will also undertake some of our consulting projects where your specialist expertise fits best.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of process safety consultants in the development and implementation of process safety solutions for clients,
- Conduct technical process hazard analyses (PHA) and dust hazard analyses (DHA), to identify potential hazards and risks, identify areas for improvement, and develop practical recommendations for corrective actions providing technical expertise and guidance to clients on process safety regulations and standards,
- Develop and maintain client relationships and serve as a point of contact for process safety consulting engagements,
- Develop proposals, statements of work, and project plans for process safety consulting engagements,
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and cost-effective process safety consulting services to clients,
- Monitor and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project outcomes,
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities to grow the process safety consulting practice,
- Stay up to date with industry trends and developments in process safety regulations and best practices,
- Conduct training programs to educate employees and management on process safety and risk management,

Whatever your situation, we are looking for you to join and work with the other Directors and our engineers and scientists drawn from the worlds of industry, consulting, and academia, who are recognized for their expertise in identifying and solving process safety problems.
To be successful in this role, we would expect you to have a skill set drawn from the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field. A higher degree would be advantageous, but is not essential,
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: gas and vapor flammability, dust explosions, hazardous area classification, thermal stability, chemical reaction hazards, reactor vent sizing, static electricity, process safety management,
- At least 5 years of experience in process safety, hazard assessments, or a related field,
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of consultants,
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships,
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
- Professional certifications such as PE or relevant process safety qualifications are desirable,
